HOW RENTING AN RV DURING HOME RENOVATIONS CAN SAVE YOU MONEY

ADVANTAGES TO STAYING IN AN RV

Moving out and renting an RV during home renovations may be optimal for you. The benefit to leaving is giving your contractors the space and accessibility they need to get the job done more quickly. Moving out can often save you money on the reno bill. It’ll also provide you a private quiet and clean space while your home is anything but.

Moving into an RV means that you’ll have a functioning kitchen. You can cook healthy meals rather than piling up bills from dining out. It also means you can keep a fairly regular routine.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Plan where you’ll park your RV. You may want to keep it on your property during renovations at a nearby campground or at a friend or relative’s house.

If you want to stay in your yard, talk to your contractor about whether there will be space available for your rig. Find out if there will be power available for the duration of the project as most Rvs will need a 30amp plug. Most houses will only have 15amp outside the house.

Also consider the contractors work hours. Are power tools going to wake you up early or interrupt your weekend activities?

You also need to consider how you will deal with water lines that may freeze in the winter and black water tank from your toilet and gray water from your shower and sinks. Where will they be dumped?

Finally check local laws to make sure it’s legal to live in an RV on your property.
